TPT#182 - You Can't Do That Anymore!

When George was a baby dyke getting catcalled or even occasionally hollering at girls, it was a completely different experience than anything that would ever happen now. There are some behaviours that are really only acceptable in a homosocial context. An interaction between members of similar genders or gender experiences can contain a subtext of common experience, but cross-gender interactions often exist in an expansive context of patriarchy, historical oppression, and cultural expectations that can make otherwise innocuous comments seem inappropriate.

The NPR podcast we referenced can be found here: http://www.npr.org/2016/08/23/491103720/radio-rookies-reformed-catcaller-explores-roots-of-street-harassment.

We are here to share our entire intersectional experience with anyone who finds it beneficial, but we want to know what you connect with the most.
