TPT#450 - The Drainage Department
As a blended family, we have never celebrated a holiday on its assigned calendar date. (ACAB = Assigned Calendar At Birth?) We had lots of holiday queerness in all senses of the word, from a visit by Cousin Vinnie for LGBTQIA+ holiday outings, to adjusting our traditions now that the kids are grown.

TPT#449 - Naughty Dog Stories
The boys have lived elsewhere for over a month, but we're still their parents. We also had been pet parents, but we recently lost Bob and so we're down to one dependent mammal.

TPT#445 - Friend In Law
We went to a friend's gay wedding, saw another friend, and hung out with a bunch of weird straight people. Or maybe straight weird people. Or maybe we're being redundant.

TPT#438 - We're Gonna Do Things That Are Not Responsibilities
While George fights with his phone's automated assistant and our household automation system, we are preparing to travel again, this time to London.

TPT#416 - The Health Department For Cats
Bob the dog is the only pet we intend to ever own again, but Child #3 wanted help keeping her cat when her other dad wasn't able to keep it anymore. We were willing to help, but only so far.

TPT#406 - Secret Gas Station With A Petting Zoo
George wanted to take Child#2 on a spring break road trip, and Cousin Vinnie needed to get out of town to escape work for a while, so they took George's car and visited some fish, George's metamour, and Death Valley.

TPT#376 - The Wrong Way To Flail
George finally has a surgery date, and it's coming up far quicker than we expected. While we plan and prepare, we're considering child care, elder care, pet care, and what to tell various members of various social spheres.

TPT#247 - I Think It's The Chicken Cans
George and Jess have been like ships passing in the night lately, often near but rarely interacting with one another, because of extra responsibilities and challenging circumstances. So today, at distance, we engaged in some "first date" conversation starters, just to re-engage with one another and make sure we could have a conversation.

TPT#224 - Go In There And Be Me (Cousin Vinnie Returns, Pt. 2)
The intersection of lesbian parenting and multi-cultural family life, highlights Vinnie's experiences with gender and discrimination, and we discuss how George's transition has affected his parenting interactions. Returning to their experiences as a non-transitioning female-assigned person in a male-dominated field, Vinnie clarifies a few points and we all discuss our experiences of gender in the workplace. Rambly trans conversation continues!

TPT#221 - Flip-Off Dance
When George's intestines try to kill him, when Child#3 is a stinky hoarder, when Child#2 has bizarrely unrealistic expectations of us, it's good to be able to use some coping humor. George's ability to cope with strong emotion has increased over his time on HRT, although he still finds his patience has a tendency to disappear abruptly.

TPT#198 - Shoes To Throw
Can we find a home for the surprise dogs? Will George's birthday combine with Child#3's birthday well? Will Child#0 come to live with us? Is George irritable because of decreased testosterone? Holiday JOY for the whole freaking family abounds, but we don't get to have our holidays yet.

TPT#168 - FacePalm
The family and friends we visited during the funeral and surrounding weekend were quite enjoyable company. The folks we left behind, however, insisted on continuing to cause us trouble while we were gone. We back up to last week's story and tie up some loose ends, and continue the tale of the trip to Michigan.

TPT#118 - Fridays That Have Issues
The madness never ends, and while George occasionally plans to make time for self-care it doesn't always work out as planned. Between naughty children and ailing pets and elderly parents, other peoples' problems keep encroaching on his free-time fridays.

TPT#101 - Pictures Of Cats On The Internet
Pronouns are important, especially within the transgender community. Misgendering can be a horrible insult to someone who's had to struggle for the right to use the word that fits. So when Jess is so linguistically-confused and gender-challenged that he can't even get her own pronouns right, let alone everyone else's, they might just have to forgo the use of gendered pronouns for a while.

TPT#93 - Man Cave
Like Jack Sprat and wife, we often end up on opposite sides of a meal, task, or situation. George eats the fatty parts of the bacon, Jess eats the lean. George builds things, Jess sews things. George cleans, Jess cooks. While this is just a function of our respective experience and aptitudes, it often ends up seeming terribly heteronormative.

TPT#91 - Man Scouts
It's been said that "the only good dog stories are naughty dog stories". Unless there's a problem to solve, there's no story. The story isn't generally amusing while you're actually solving the problem, but the worst problems make for the best stories afterward.

TPT#77 - Little White Bowls
Sometimes things get misplaced. While we endeavour to find lost items promptly, it often happens that the hunt for missing objects is preempted by our busy lives. Back-to-school has made our lives busier than usual, so the to-do list has gotten completely shuffled and lost-and-found hasn't been a priority.

TPT#72 - Small Mammals
There are four mammalian creatures in our house under four feet (~120cm) tall, two short hominids and two large canines. We have committed to be responsible for these living beings (and a tall homonid too), and this fact has given us both enjoyment and stress, both frustration and joy.

TPT#71 - You're Less Selfish
Transition is, by necessity and by definition, a self-centered act. To recreate one's physical self in the most psychologically congruous image possible, is intensely intrapersonal. But when life keeps happening all around us, between raising kids, caring for parents, tending pets, supporting family, paying bills, and keeping house, it's easy to get lost in all the external details and forget that transition is even happening!
